About Katie

Hi, I’m Katie!

Curiosity is my superpower. I consider myself a lifelong learner and have over 17 years experience as a movement professional.

I grew up in the small town of Carnation, Washington. I was an outdoorsy kid who loved recreation and recess - I even received the PE award in 8th grade! I played basketball and golf through high school and enjoyed spending time in the weight room.

It’s no surprise I discovered the Exercise and Sport Science degree at Western Washington University. I loved learning anatomy, physiology and kinesiology as well as having exercise classes programmed into my academic schedule.

In 2008, I experienced my first significant injury. I struggled with debilitating low back pain for 12+ years. I consulted with various healthcare providers with no lasting relief in my symptoms. I started to retreat from the things I enjoyed including hiking, weightlifting, golfing and other recreational activities due to fear of my back “going out.”  I altered my movement patterns and avoid bending forward at all costs.

In 2020, I experienced a huge paradigm shift in how I approach pain and movement. I was introduced to an osteopathic lens of view, a philosophy that recognizes the body as a whole unit made up of highly integrated systems with the innate ability to heal itself.  The body also prioritizes safety of the nervous system and visceral organs.

Exploring movement and self care through this perspective had a profound impact on my healing journey as I began to experience lasting change. This has also been the missing link with many of my clients.

Ultimately, I believe that the body holds the key to unlocking its full potential.
